Excursions / Varna
City of Varna - sea-capital of Bulgaria and third largest city in the country. The city is founded in the VIth century B.C. by the Hellens on an ancient Thracian settlement. The Hellens called it Odesos - 'city of water'. In the course of its thousand years history Odesos has been conquered by the Hellens, Romans, Byzantines, Slavs, Turks.
Nowadays Varna is an important commercial, industrial, harbour and cultural center.
Tourists` attention is being attracted by the Sea garden and located there Aquarium, Planetarium, Dolphinarium. A special attraction for tourists and mainly for children is the program of trained dolphins.
Interesting place for visitors is the central part of the city where can be seen ancient architecture and large commercial streets with lots of cafeterias, restaurants and shops.
